Celebrating Cat Day on February 22 x Japanese Pearl Cat Pendant

Cat Day (Japanese:猫の日) is a Japanese cat festival that takes place on February 22. The event was established by the Japan Pet Food Association in 1987 to celebrate and commemorate the peaceful coexistence of cats and humans. It was set on February 22 because the pronunciation of "2" in Japanese is close to the sound of a cat's meow ("ニャン").

Every year on Cat Day, various organizations and groups across Japan hold various celebrations; and some businesses also use Cat Day to promote related products. On that day in 2010 (Heisei 22), a post office specially launched a postmark with a cat pattern to celebrate "February 22, 22" Cat Day.

It is said that this is to express gratitude for "living happily with cats every day, full of joy". On that day, there will be many cat-related events all over Japan.
