Japanese seawater cultured pearls are also called AKOYA pearls. Their main colors are white, silver, creamy yellow and gray, and they are often processed to pink. The diameters range from 4 mm to 11 mm. The Japanese Pearl Science Research Institute will identify AKOYA pearls, which are classified into flower beads, celestial maidens, and manta masahima. Among them, flower beads are the best among AKOYA, and celestial maidens are identified from flower beads. They are pure white with fantasy colors, and are the most precious among the treasures. As for "manta masahima", it is the name of the pearls in the "Manyoshu". The original meaning is " the original appearance when it comes out of the sea " , and the derived meaning is the pearls that have not been artificially processed, and the original color is silver-gray with a light blue light.
As for the pearl oyster species that produces AKOYA, it is the Martensii oyster, also known as the Hepu mother-of-pearl oyster, which is mainly distributed in the South China Sea, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, and southern Japan. It is a native species in Hong Kong and is also the mother-of-pearl oyster we are currently cultivating. We have harvested high-quality "Hong Kong Pearls" similar to AKOYA flower pearls. If you want to witness the freshest, unprocessed, and unselected pearls in person, don't miss the opportunity to visit the pearl farm. Compared to the Pearl Island in Toba, Japan, or even the uninhabited pearl coast in northern Australia, it only takes a 40-minute drive and boat ride in Hong Kong to reach our outdoor pearl cultivation teaching center and unveil the mystery of pearls.
