The History of Fukui Pearls (1) - "Opening the Clam to Find Pearls"

香港珍珠養殖業

Fukui Pearl has been established for more than 20 years. Formerly known as Zhenbei Store, it mainly sells mother-of-pearl crafts. Before opening its first retail store, it had set up stalls in major shopping malls in Hong Kong, including Qianse Store and Zhongyi. It then started pearl farming with the mainland and began to promote a project called "Opening Clams to Find Pearls" in Hong Kong.

In the early stage, we worked with the buffet restaurant at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to create a special event. Every guest was given a pearl lottery ticket when they arrived. Then the guest could take the lottery ticket to the booth to pick a pearl oyster, and then our colleagues would help open it. This event would always cause a stir. When the oysters were opened, the guests and onlookers would shout "Yes, yes, yes!" in unison.

Of course, everyone is happy if they have pearls, but it won’t be a pity if they don’t have them. Customers who successfully obtain pearls can choose to purchase their favorite jewelry accessories, and finally our colleagues will help them inlay the pearls into jewelry.

This "opening clams to hunt for pearls" activity also allowed us to build up sufficient resources to expand our store network, and inadvertently established the first cornerstone for Hong Kong's future pearl farming industry.
